Discover the Big Picture of the Bible | Class 20

https://youtube.com/embed/aX88C6rgzrE
Class 20 looks at the time between the testaments, and Jesus fulfilling all of the growing anticipation!

The anticipation of the Old Testament is that there is a Christ that is coming, and there is a kingdom that is coming. One of the striking features of the opening chapters of the New Testament is that everyone seems to be waiting for something. The atmosphere is one of expectation, anticipation, and fulfillment.

Jesus is the fulfillment of that anticipation!

We added a new outline blank: Matthew 1 – John 21 – Christ is here

The gospels show us Jesus as the fulfillment of:
Seed of woman
Seed of Abraham
Seed of Isaac
Seed of Jacob
Seed of Judah
Seed of David
The Prophet Moses talked about
The Lamb of God

Can you have a king without a kingdom? What is King Jesus’ kingdom?

Kingdom in the Old Testament – A Kingdom is Coming
Daniel 2/Isaiah 2/Joel 2

“The Kingdom is near” in the Gospels

Then…the Kingdom is here!
Before Acts 2, the kingdom is discussed in the future tense. After Acts 2 the kingdom is discussed in present tense.

What does it matter if Jesus is king, if He is not your king?

Next week: The teaching, life, and sacrifice of Jesus
